So, who Is The Pixel Meister?
G. Wm. (Bill) Buchanan, FPSA, has been actively involved in photography in the Detroit area for over Thirty -two years.
He is a member and past president of the Photographic Guild (formerly the Photographic Guild of Detroit). Since 1976 he has served as General Chairman of the Photo Guild's annual weekend seminar. In 1990 he relinquished the general chairman's job for the position of Program Chairman. Bill is a long time member of the Photographic Society of America and has served the society as Regional Conventions Chairman, Chairman of the Nominating Committee, past President of the Seaway Chapter and District Representative. He received the honor of Fellow of the Greater Detroit Camera Club Council in 1999.
He received his honor of Associate in 1984 and was awarded his Fellowship in 1990 at the International Conference of the Photographic Society of America in Nashville, Tennessee. Bill is a star exhibitor in Monochrome and Color Prints and Color Slides.
In addition to all of his involvement, he has served as a judge and commentator on the local level as well as International Salons. He has conducted workshops on color printing, mounting and matting prints and night photography. He has presented many of travelogues and photographic lectures in the greater Detroit area and southern Michigan. His program on Night Photography has been presented to the Everglades Chapter of PSA, St. Louis Camera Club, NECCC in Amherst, MA and the SWMCC summer school in Holland, Michigan. His Digital program has been presented to various camera clubs in the Detroit area including the Photographic Guild's Annual Seminar, PSA International Conference in Albuquerque, NM, the annual NECCC Photography School, and this past summer at the SWMCCC Summer School of Photography.
His most recent two hour program, “My Digital Darkroom”, was presented at the SWMCC summer school in Holland, Michigan, and at the International Conference of PSA, in Salt Lake City, UT, 2005
Bill is the current Chairman of the PSA Electronic Imaging Division, and Chairman of the Electronic Image Division his home club, The Photographic Guild.
